Attorney Regina B. Ward is a South Carolina native from Rock Hill who calls North Myrtle Beach her hometown, having graduated from high school here in 1982. Since earning her law degree in Michigan, she has practiced law in Conway and Myrtle Beach, and has given back to her community in many ways.
- Guardian Ad Litem certified. As a guardian ad litem, Regina speaks for children and the incapacitated in family court, such as in contested custody and visitation cases, child name-change cases, adoptions, DSS abuse and neglect cases, paternity actions, involuntary commitments, and termination of parental rights cases.
- South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Programs. Regina Ward offers her services for free (pro bono) to clients who cannot afford to pay for help with civil legal matters, such as family, housing, bankruptcy or probate issues, through the South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Program. She and other members of the program also educate the public about common legal topics via free legal clinics throughout the state and “Law School for Non-Lawyers,” a seven-week class available at technical colleges. Regina has served as a media spokesperson for the Bar’s Pro Bono Programs and has been named to the annual Pro Bono Honor Roll for her dedicated service.
- High School Mock Trial competition coach and scoring judge. In the S.C. Bar’s mock trial program, high school and middle school students present the plaintiff and defense sides of a fictitious civil case before a panel of local volunteer lawyers and judges. Volunteer attorney coaches help teams prepare the case and provide the team with case materials and competition guides. Student teams have the opportunity to advance to regional and national competitions. Regina is proud to have coached a student who was named Most Effective Attorney and to have served as a scoring judge in regional competitions.
- “Ask-a-Lawyer” telephone bank volunteer. Regina Ward regularly volunteers with the “Ask-A-Lawyer” program, participating in televised phone banks and online web chats to assist members of the community with legal questions. During each event, phone banks are aired on evening news programs, including WBTW in Myrtle Beach, to encourage people to call in with questions.
- WMBF TV Commentator. Regina has been a guest lawyer on WMBF’s “Legal Access,” a weekly program that addresses some of the Pee Dee area’s most frequently asked legal questions. WMBF also called upon her for commentary in a news feature titled “Cheaters,” which examined the legal ramifications of infidelity and divorce.
- Contributing Writer. Regina has worked to inform the community about general legal issues as a regular contributor to Parent News and South Carolina Woman
- Public speaking. Regina regularly makes presentations for Coastal Carolina University’s professional symposium, middle school and high school Career Day programs, and for several local civic groups.
- Readers’ Choice Award Winner. Since 2013, voters participating in the annual Carolina Forest Chronicle Readers’ Choice Awards have consistently bestowed awards naming Regina B. Ward “Best Attorney” and the Ward Law Firm “Best Law Firm.”
- TEAL 1000, Coastal Carolina University. Members of the TEAL 1000 make an annual investment of $1,000 to an endowed fund at Coastal Carolina that supports scholarships for students from Horry and Georgetown counties.
